Handbag Tips
How to choose the right bag and keep it looking new for years.
Choosing your bag
- Think about what you carry every day: a tote for work and errands, a purse for the essentials, a clutch for evenings.
- Check the strap drop. Shoulder bags should sit comfortably under your arm, even over a jacket.
- Pick one neutral colour (black, brown, nude) that goes with most of your wardrobe, then add colour for fun.
Everyday care
- Don't overfill your bag. Too much weight stretches the shape and strains the handles.
- Wipe the outside gently with a soft, dry cloth. For marks, use a slightly damp cloth, then let it dry in the shade.
- Keep pens, make-up and anything that can leak in a small pouch inside.
- Rest your bag on a chair or a hook, not on the floor.
Storing your bag
- Stuff it lightly with paper or a soft cloth so it keeps its shape.
- Store it in its dust bag, or a cotton pillowcase, away from direct sun.
- Don't hang bags by their straps for a long time: lay them flat or stand them upright.
- Ghana is humid, so give your bags some air now and then to keep them fresh.
